Those clever folks at Photo Hunt asked us to post our favorite "messy" photo. Mine is an image I captured with traditional color film in the summer of 2002 -- during the very last days before I switched to digital.
I spent most of that summer volunteering for Earthwatch in Kenya and took a long, much needed, weekend break at the Masai Mara in the southern part of the country. I think this "nature red in tooth and claw" qualifies quite nicely for "messy", among other things!! This pride of female lions is simply completing the circle of life - one bone at a time.

Hi Faraway, Nearby,
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw this photo I thought you were doing a post on the assasination of Benazir Bhutto. I can barely look at the photos in the news. With this one, too, I must avert my eyes. I can't believe you were close enough to witness this mess.
Messy AND Gory!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a unique perspective.
Thanks for posting!

How long were you in Kenya? Did you work with the Kikuyus tribe? I hope the citizens are able to reach peace soon because it's frightening what the future might hold for the innocent. -Melinda P.
