Hi T.R., Very nice blog. I can empathize with wanting to be Julie Zickefoose when we grow up. E.O. Wilson is fantastic, I had the fortune to meet him in 1998. An incredible speaker and he is excellent one-on-one as well. I'm going to add my feed to your reader.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment on The Ohio Nature Blog!
Tom

ReplyDeleteI saw a short b/w clip years ago that showed herds of hundreds of elephants stampeding across the savanna. It depressed me to no end to see the devastation we've done to such a magnificent species...and still does.
ReplyDeleteWow what a beautiful photo, indeed heavy, thanks for sharing...
ReplyDeleteMine is up too:
Every Beat Of My Heart
You took such a lovely natural photo of this elephant. It is gratifying to see it wild. My Photo Hunt — Heavy is here. Thank you.

Great photo, I love elephants!
ReplyDeletesee, now I'm glad I didn't post elephant photos too :)
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing to think that some of the world's largest animals are all endangered... thanks to human greed. Whales, Elephants, Polar Bears... all facing extinction from hunting and habitat destruction.
Of course I know I'm preaching to the choir here...
Perfect choice!
ReplyDeleteHi TR thanks for stopping by my blog and for your comments.
ReplyDeleteElephants are fascinating animals. The Addo Elephant National Park is about 70 kms from our home and we often jump into the car at a whim, to see the elephants.
I have been looking at and enjoying your blog but will need to come back for several visits to take it all in.
HEAVY, HEAVY!! Good Photo's all over your site! My first visit!!
ReplyDeleteheavy indeed!!!
ReplyDeletevery lovable, wonderful creatures too :)
did you know it takes about two days for the bull's sperm to reach the female elephant's egg? :D that means each elephant born are even greater miracles than us humans, no?
very beautiful capture, with excellent light
ReplyDeleteThanks for your welcome on my first week 'hunting. We have a pic taken a few years ago at the ceremonial ground-breaking of the NC Zoo's pachyderm habitat expansion. Czar, their bull, had a pile of dirt and two shovels to play with in front of the viewing area. Bet you can guess at the fate of those shovels...*wink*
ReplyDeleteHow I love elephants. Despite their weight and size there is such grace to them. Lovely, lovely shot!
ReplyDeletemy favorite animal... they are beautiful. xoxo nita
