Happy 40th Birthday Miguel Angel!!!!

Its hard to believe that today is Miguel Angel's 40th birthday. This man has lived more lives, absorbed more knowledge and accomplished more in 40 years than most people do in their entire lives and still he doesn't look a day over 30.

I first met the Angel in 1998 in San Diego and his impact on my life has been tremendous. Since that balmy Friday in February our relationship has had many incarnations: fellow San Diegans, Leos, best friends, roommates, tourists, chef, coffee maker, muse, part-time summer resident in Santa Fe and now our forties.

And since I have met Miguel - he himself has had many incarnations: dancer, singer, rollerblader, housekeeper, reader, writer, artist, flamenco dancer, linguist, thinker, translator, toastmaster, nanny, mentor, marathon runner - but always, always uniquely Miguel Angel - and there is no being that exists that is remotely like him. I can't wait to see what Miguel, in his 40's, can accomplish.

Although six years my junior, he is wise beyond his years and this wisdom and his grace has continued to be a source of inspiration to me over the last ten years. Today, on his 40th birthday, again I toast Miguel Angel, his accomplishments and more than anything else - the depth of which he is connected to his humanity -- I continue to be humbled but at the same time inspired, moved and blessed that he has shared himself with me these past years. As Miguel looks around at all the celebratory gifts that have been offered over the past few days in celebration -- I wonder if he knows that he is really the gift - and as always - wrapped in dazzling paper and covered with bows.

All my best to Miguel and his partner Walter - may they both have many more!

TACOS FOR EVER!!!
